What is a WPO50 gearbox?
The WPO50 belongs to the WP series of single-stage worm gear reducers. It features an upward-facing output shaft with a horizontal base mounting structure and a center distance of 50mm. It is a commonly used 90° right-angle reduction transmission component in small industrial equipment. It achieves speed reduction and torque increase through the sliding meshing of the worm and worm wheel. The high-ratio gears have mechanical self-locking characteristics. It has a compact structure, is easy to install and debug, and is specifically designed for equipment with the output shaft facing upwards.
This product strictly adheres to industry standards for worm gear reducers. The housing is made of HT200 cast iron, the worm is made of 45# steel with tempering and surface quenching, and the worm wheel is made of tin bronze 9-4 wear-resistant alloy. Standard specifications are readily available, and custom machining of non-standard shaft diameters, keyways, shaft extension lengths, and output orientations is also supported.
Suitable for: Small to medium torque, upward-facing output shaft mounting, right-angle reversing, and auxiliary self-locking positioning transmission scenarios. Due to the low inherent efficiency of worm gears, they are not suitable for continuous 24-hour full-load operation. For long-term full-load conditions, it is recommended to increase the safety factor.

Q2: What is the normal operating temperature for a WPO50 reducer?
A2: Under normal operating conditions, the normal operating temperature is 40℃–75℃, and the maximum continuous operating temperature should not exceed 85℃. If the temperature continues to rise and the casing becomes very hot to the touch, it is most likely due to insufficient lubricating oil, deteriorated oil, or overload. The machine should be stopped immediately for inspection and maintenance.
Q3: Can the WPO50 reducer be used in both forward and reverse rotation?
A3: It can operate normally in both forward and reverse rotation, but frequent forward and reverse rotation and instantaneous impact loads will significantly reduce the lifespan of the worm gear. For models with a high speed ratio and self-locking, the resistance to starting in reverse is greater. For frequent reversing scenarios, it is recommended to reduce the load or choose a gear reducer.
