Brushless DC Gear Motor
What is a Brushless DC Gear Motor?
The Brushless DC Gear Motor integrates a permanent-magnet brushless DC motor with a gear reducer and utilizes a dedicated driver for electronic commutation. Unlike brushed DC gear motors, this design eliminates carbon brushes and commutators-thereby removing issues such as carbon dust accumulation and electrical sparking-resulting in a significantly extended service life.
The motor unit is paired with either a parallel-shaft or planetary gearbox to reduce output speed and amplify torque, delivering low-speed, high-torque performance. It supports a wide range of stepless speed regulation and can be equipped with Hall sensors or encoders to enable closed-loop speed and position feedback.

Brushless design for easy maintenance and extended service life
By eliminating the carbon brush commutation mechanism found in traditional brushed motors, this design avoids brush wear, carbon dust accumulation, and electrical sparking. It is suitable for environments requiring cleanliness and explosion-proof capabilities; capable of long-term continuous operation without the need for frequent brush replacement, it significantly reduces long-term maintenance costs.
- Offers wide-range, smooth speed regulation with support for closed-loop feedback. When paired with a dedicated brushless driver, it enables stepless speed control across a broad range. Integrated Hall sensors provide basic speed feedback, while an optional encoder allows for a closed-loop control system-delivering stable rotational speeds and jitter-free low-speed operation to meet the demands of precise automated motion control.

Low-voltage DC power supply, suitable for mobile equipment
It operates on standard 24V or 48V low-voltage DC power and supports battery operation, making it ideal for mobile equipment. Voltage customization is available, and the system can be equipped with multiple protection features-including safeguards against overcurrent, overvoltage, overheating, and rotor stall-to enhance overall operational safety.

Q1: Does a brushless DC gear motor require a driver? Can it be connected directly to a DC power supply?
A1: It cannot operate by connecting directly to a DC power supply. Brushless motors rely on a driver to perform electronic commutation; the driver also handles speed control, forward/reverse rotation, and protection functions. We can supply the matching original driver and ship the motor and driver as a complete set.
Q2: How do I choose between the parallel-axis and planetary gearbox versions?
A2: Parallel-axis gearboxes offer high cost-effectiveness and are suitable for standard conveying applications and continuous operation with light to medium loads. Planetary gearboxes feature lower backlash and higher rigidity, making them ideal for applications requiring precise positioning and frequent changes in direction, as they offer superior positioning accuracy.
Q3: What is the difference between Hall feedback and encoder-based closed-loop control?
A3: Hall sensors come standard and provide only coarse speed feedback; they are low-cost and suitable for general speed regulation. Encoders provide high-precision speed and position feedback, enabling closed-loop control and smooth low-speed operation; they are used in high-precision positioning and transfer mechanisms.
