NMRV Gearbox

NMRV Gearbox

The NMRV Gearbox is essentially an "aluminum-cased worm gear reducer." It is a miniaturized, cost-effective speed reduction device with worm gear transmission as its core. Its full name is "NMRV series aluminum alloy worm gear reducer," primarily used to reduce motor speed and increase output torque. Its main structure includes a worm with a helical thread as the input driving element and a worm wheel meshing with the worm as the output driven element.

Features

Compact structure and small size:

Utilizing an aluminum alloy housing and a coaxial/vertical layout of the worm gear and worm wheel, it can be installed in confined spaces and is suitable for small equipment.

Low noise and smooth operation:

The meshing transmission between the worm and worm wheel is a surface contact, resulting in less impact compared to the point contact of gear transmissions. Operating noise is typically below 60 decibels.

High cost-effectiveness and simple maintenance:

Highly standardized components lead to low manufacturing costs; the internal transmission structure is simple, requiring only periodic lubrication, making maintenance easy.

Self-locking function (some models):

When the worm lead angle is less than the friction angle, the reducer has a self-locking capability, meaning the output end cannot drive the input end in reverse, preventing the equipment from sliding down due to its own weight after shutdown (e.g., in lifting equipment).

Applications

Automated equipment:

Such as conveyors, packaging machines, and labeling machine conveying mechanisms.

Small machinery:

Such as partial drives in printing presses and textile machines, as well as medical devices (such as small massage devices) and solar tracking systems.

Home and office equipment:

Such as drive motors for smart curtains and reduction gears for automatic doors.

Light industry and food industry:

Such as power reduction components for small mixers and filling machines.

FAQ

Q1: Do all NMRV reducers have a self-locking function? How can I determine this?

A: Not all models have it. For self-locking to occur, the worm gear lead angle must be less than the friction angle. Generally, larger NMRV models (such as NMRV110-150) with a reduction ratio ≥15:1 have enhanced self-locking performance, making them suitable for applications such as lifting equipment.

Q2: Are there any requirements for coaxiality during installation? What problems will arise from large deviations?

A: Yes, there are strict requirements. The coaxiality error between the motor output shaft and the reducer input shaft must be ≤0.05mm. Poor coaxiality can lead to abnormal bearing wear, increased oil temperature, and in severe cases, shaft breakage or worm gear tooth breakage.

Q3: What type of lubricating oil should be used for NMRV reducers? What is the oil change interval?

A: Model 25-90 is pre-filled with ISOVG320 lubricating oil at the factory. This grade of lubricating oil can be used under normal operating conditions. Regarding oil changes, the first oil change is required after 500 hours of continuous operation of the new machine, followed by an oil change every 6000 hours. If oil sampling tests reveal deterioration, the oil must be replaced immediately.

Q4: What to do if the oil temperature is too high during operation?

A: First, check the lubricating oil. If the oil level is insufficient, add oil of the same brand. If the oil is deteriorated, replace it completely. If lubrication is normal, the problem is most likely due to excessive load or poor cooling. You can appropriately reduce the load or install a cooling fan or oil cooler on the reducer. In addition, you should also check whether the installation is secure, as excessive vibration of the gearbox may also indirectly lead to an increase in oil temperature.

Q5: What checks are required before using the equipment after long-term storage?

A: If stored for 4-6 months, the key checks are whether the oil seal is immersed in lubricating oil. If the oil seal lip sticks to the shaft or loses its elasticity, the oil seal should be replaced. Also check the housing for any bumps or cracks, and whether the lubricating oil holes are clear. Before installation, the output shaft rotation direction must be tested, and the shaft diameter and keyway dimensions must be checked to avoid assembly failures.
