V Pulley
What is the V Pulley?
V-belt pulleys are friction drive components. The pulley body is machined with V-shaped grooves, and torque is transmitted by the wedging friction generated when the side of the V-belt weds into the groove. Compared to flat pulleys, the V-shaped structure has a larger wedging effect, allowing it to transmit greater torque for the same size, and it is less prone to slippage. Compared to chain drives and gear drives, it features shock absorption, overload protection, simple installation and debugging, and low maintenance costs.
When equipment is overloaded, the V-belt will slip within the V-groove, protecting the motor and the entire machine from damage by hard impacts. It is widely used in fans, water pumps, air compressors, crushers, conveyor lines, agricultural machinery, and woodworking equipment.
ANJO specializes in the entire production process of V-belt pulleys, including casting, machining, and dynamic balancing. Our products cover ordinary V-belt pulleys, narrow V-belt pulleys, and tapered sleeve locking V-belt pulleys, with a full range of single-groove, double-groove, triple-groove, and multi-groove specifications. Solve common problems of ordinary V-belt pulleys on the market, such as inaccurate groove angle, high-speed vibration, uneven belt wear, frequent slippage, and easy bearing damage. Supply to equipment manufacturers, maintenance and spare parts suppliers, and foreign trade export projects.
Models

Types of V Pulley
1. Standard V-groove Pulleys (A/B/C/D Grooves)
Traditional standard V-groove structure with a wider groove opening, suitable for A, B, C, and D cross-section standard V-belts.
- A/B Groove: Light to medium load, small fans, pumps, assembly lines, general machinery;
- C/D Groove: High torque, low speed, crushers, mixing equipment, agricultural machinery, heavy-duty transmission; One-piece casting, high cost-performance ratio, ample stock, mostly used for replacing and repairing older equipment.
2. Narrow V-groove Pulleys (SPZ-SPA-SPB-SPC)
Narrow V-groove V-belt pulleys have a deeper and narrower groove, stronger wedging effect, higher power density, and can transmit more power for the same outer diameter, suitable for high-speed continuous operation. Suitable for narrow V-belts, a mainstream choice for modern industrial equipment. Widely used in centrifugal fans, air compressors, high-speed water pumps, and automated complete sets of equipment, for 24-hour continuous operation.
3. Tapered Sleeve Locking V-Pulley
The V-pulley body and tapered sleeve are assembled separately, relying on the radial expansion of the tapered sleeve to fix it to the drive shaft.
Advantages: Disassembly and assembly do not require disassembling the motor base; belt replacement and speed ratio changes are quick and convenient; the shaft hole is subjected to uniform force, making it less prone to key wear and inner diameter run-out; the same V-pulley body can be fitted with different tapered sleeves to accommodate various shaft diameters, reducing inventory types. Suitable for fans, production lines, and complete sets of equipment that require frequent maintenance and share spare parts among multiple models.
4. Multi-groove V-Pulley (2 grooves / 3 grooves / 4 grooves and above)
Two or more V-belts mesh simultaneously, distributing the total torque across multiple belts, reducing the load on a single belt, and improving overall load-bearing capacity and operational stability. Multi-groove V-belt pulleys are preferred for high-power motors, heavy-duty crushers, and large ventilation equipment.
5. Non-standard Customized V-belt Pulleys
We support V-belt pulleys with special outer diameters, special numbers of grooves, special speed ratios, enlarged shaft holes, thickened wheel bodies, flanged edges, and weight-reducing structures. We can manufacture according to drawings and physical samples, solving problems such as the lack of standard parts and limited installation space for imported equipment and customized production lines. We support small-batch prototyping and large-scale mass production.
Features
- Precise V-groove wedge angle maximizes wedge-shaped force amplification and reduces slippage
The core of a V-type pulley lies in the V-groove angle. Many low-priced products have machining deviations in the groove angle, resulting in insufficient belt wedging, easy slippage and loss of rotation, and rapid belt overheating and aging. Our factory CNC-machines the V-groove, with the groove angle rationally distributed according to the pulley diameter. The belt side fully conforms to the groove wall, relying on the wedge effect to amplify friction, resulting in high transmission efficiency and reducing slippage and belt burning.
- HT250 Cast Iron Material, Damping and Vibration Reduction, Suppressing Transmission Vibration
Made of HT250 gray cast iron, with a dense internal structure, providing excellent shock absorption. Impact vibrations from motor start-up and shutdown, and load fluctuations are absorbed by the cast iron pulley, reducing overall machine vibration and noise, protecting the motor bearings. Compared to cast steel or aluminum V-belt pulleys, it offers better continuous transmission stability.
- Rigorous Dynamic Balancing Correction to Avoid High-Speed Eccentric Resonance
At high speeds, even slight eccentricity of the V-belt pulley can cause continuous vibration, leading to premature bearing failure and repeated uneven wear of the V-belt. All V-belt pulleys undergo dynamic balancing testing and correction to ensure balanced center of gravity during high-speed operation, reducing the risk of equipment resonance and extending the lifespan of bearings, belts, and other vulnerable components.

FAQ
Q1: Can regular V-belt pulleys and narrow V-belt pulleys be used interchangeably?
A1: It is not recommended to use them interchangeably. Regular V-belts (A/B/C/D) and narrow V-belts (SPZ-SPC) have different cross-sectional dimensions. If placed in the V-groove of the other, the contact position will be misaligned, resulting in failure of wedging and serious slippage, and the belt may crack due to high temperature. The pulley groove and the belt cross-section must correspond one-to-one.
Q2: Can a multi-groove V-belt be used with only one belt?
A2: It's not recommended. A multi-groove V-belt is designed for multiple belts to share the torque. Using only one belt means that a single groove bears the entire load, causing the belt to overload and fail quickly. Furthermore, leaving unused grooves empty creates an imbalance of forces and introduces additional vibration.
Q3: What are the advantages of a tapered sleeve V-belt pulley compared to a one-piece V-belt pulley?
A3: Tapered sleeve V-belt pulleys do not require a tight fit with the shaft; they rely on the tapered sleeve for tension. Disassembly and assembly do not require moving the motor. The same V-belt pulley with different tapered sleeves can accommodate various shaft diameters. The shaft is less prone to damage from keyways, resulting in higher maintenance efficiency. One-piece pulleys are more cost-effective and suitable for stationary applications requiring infrequent disassembly.
