Induction Gear Motor
What is an Induction Gear Motor?
AC gear motors-also known in the industry as AC induction gear motors-are currently the most widely used and reliable general-purpose drive units in industrial automation. These units integrate an AC induction asynchronous motor with a high-precision gear reducer; by combining electromagnetic induction drive principles with gear-based speed reduction and torque amplification, they effectively resolve common issues associated with standard high-speed motors-such as excessive speed, insufficient torque, stuttering at low speeds, and limited load capacity. They seamlessly transform the motor's inherent high-speed, low-torque output into stable, smooth power characterized by low speed and high torque. Thanks to advantages such as eliminating the need for variable frequency drives, a streamlined structure, suitability for continuous operation, smooth start-stop performance, maintenance-free operation, and broad compatibility, they have become the standard core power source for automated assembly lines, conveyor systems, packaging machinery, and intelligent light-industrial equipment, as well as a preferred choice for OEM integration and as replacements for imported motors.

- Broad Voltage Compatibility for Global Use: Native support for standard single-phase 220V and three-phase 380V power supplies; customizable for non-standard international voltages (e.g., 110V, 240V, 415V) and dual-frequency (50/60Hz) operation. Suitable for both domestic and overseas applications without requiring circuit modifications.
- Class F High-Temperature Insulation for Stable, Continuous Operation: Features high-end industrial Class F insulation materials capable of withstanding temperatures up to 155°C. Effectively resists heat-related degradation caused by prolonged continuous operation and frequent start-stop cycles, preventing insulation aging, short circuits, and dielectric breakdown; offers a trouble-free service life far exceeding comparable products.
- Compact, Integrated Design for Easy Installation: Features an integrated motor-gearbox structure that is compact and space-efficient. Supports versatile mounting orientations (vertical or horizontal) and utilizes standardized output shafts and mounting holes, ensuring compatibility with the vast majority of automation equipment and facilitating easy replacement.

Q1: Is it normal for an AC gear motor to generate heat during operation?
A1: Slight, uniform heat generation is a normal operating condition for industrial motors; temperature rise remains controllable and within industry standards during full-load operation. However, if the motor becomes excessively hot-to the point of being painful to touch or causing the casing to overheat-this is usually due to overloading, unstable voltage, gear jamming, or prolonged operation under strain at low speeds. Promptly checking the load and wiring should resolve the issue and restore normal operation.
Q2: What causes abnormal noise and vibration during the operation of an AC gear motor?
A2: While these motors typically run quietly and smoothly, the onset of abnormal noise or vibration is usually due to external operating conditions-such as eccentric or binding loads, uneven mounting, gear wear caused by a lack of lubrication, loose mounting bolts, or unstable voltage. Simply leveling the mounting surface, tightening components, and checking for load binding will restore smooth, quiet operation.
Q3: Do AC gear motors require regular maintenance?
A3: Under standard operating conditions, no daily maintenance is required; the gearbox is pre-filled with long-lasting, high-temperature resistant grease, and the sealed design prevents dust ingress and lubricant loss. Routine maintenance is limited to cleaning surface dust and tightening wiring terminals and mounting bolts every six months. For high-load or frequent start-stop applications, an annual inspection of the gear lubrication status is recommended to significantly extend the equipment's service life.
