NMRV40 Worm Gearbox
The NMRV040 worm gear reducer is the smallest standard transmission unit in the RV series of compact reducers-often referred to simply as the RV040. It features a one-piece die-cast aluminum alloy housing and a high-precision worm and bronze worm gear set. With its compact structure and inherent self-locking capability, it is the preferred choice for low-power automation equipment.
ANJO's NMRV040 reducer is designed and manufactured in strict accordance with international transmission industry standards; all dimensions, torque ratings, and gear ratios are fully compatible with major international brands. Leveraging years of R&D and manufacturing expertise, the design is optimized for light-load, low-speed applications-such as small assembly lines, packaging equipment, and small-scale conveyors-balancing lightweight construction, quiet operation, and durability. Unlike cast-iron models, the aluminum housing offers reduced weight, superior heat dissipation, and rust resistance. It can be integrated with standard single-phase or three-phase motors, servo motors, or stepper motors to form a complete geared motor unit. Widely used in light industry, food processing, packaging, and small-scale automation, these units are supplied in volume to domestic and international factories, with comprehensive documentation available to meet both domestic sales and export customs clearance requirements.

1. Die-cast aluminum alloy housing: lightweight, excellent heat dissipation, and corrosion-resistant
The NMRV040 features a one-piece ADC12 die-cast aluminum housing with a sandblasted, oxidized finish, weighing only one-third of a comparable cast-iron gearbox. Integrated cooling fins ensure a low temperature rise during prolonged continuous operation, preventing high-temperature oil leakage. The corrosion-resistant housing requires no additional protection in standard humid workshop environments and can be paired with stainless steel motors for specialized applications.
2. Built-in self-locking function for safety and reverse prevention
Standard NMRV040 models feature self-locking capabilities, preventing the load from back-driving when the equipment stops. This eliminates the need for additional braking devices-making it ideal for small lifting conveyors and tilting equipment-while mitigating safety risks such as material slippage or accidental startup, and reducing procurement costs for extra braking components.
3. Comprehensive gear ratios, universal flange compatibility, and flexible installation
The NMRV040 offers standard gear ratios ranging from 5:1 to 100:1 and is compatible with standard motors rated at 0.12 kW, 0.18 kW, 0.25 kW, and 0.37 kW. Output options include B5 flanges, single or double output shafts, and customized extended shafts. It supports both horizontal and vertical mounting and is compatible with the installation dimensions of most small-scale automation equipment, requiring no modifications to the machine frame.

Q1: What is the maximum motor power rating for the NMRV040 gear reducer?
A1: The standard NMRV040 housing accommodates a maximum motor power of 0.37 kW; exceeding this limit during prolonged full-load operation will accelerate worm gear wear and shorten the service life. If higher torque and power are required, upgrading to the NMRV050 model is recommended.
Q2: Are NMRV040 and RV040 the same type of gear reducer? What is the difference?
A2: They are the same product; RV040 is the industry shorthand, while the full standard model designation is NMRV040. The "NMRV" designation indicates the presence of an input flange for direct motor connection, whereas the "RV" version lacks a flange and requires a coupling to connect to the motor. When purchasing, the NMRV040 direct-connection model is the preferred choice, as it is easier to install.
Q3: How do you select the gear ratio for the NMRV040 gearbox?
A3: Choose a high gear ratio (30–100) for low-speed, high-torque equipment; a medium ratio (10–25) for conveying or winding applications requiring moderate speeds; and a low ratio (5 or 7.5) for high-speed, light-load, small-scale drive systems. If the operating conditions are unclear, simply provide the equipment speed and load weight, and our technical staff will recommend the appropriate gear ratio free of charge.
